Makwana

Saurashtra Rajput parent-line of the Jhalas — the Macchu-kantha settlement

The Makwanas are the parent line of the Jhalas, settled at Macchu-kantha in Saurashtra after the displacement of a Varaha cadet branch from lower Sindh. Prof. G. S. L. Devra‘s 2003 paper identifies the Makwanas as a Varaha-derivative; the Saurashtra-Halar genealogical tradition preserves the same identification.
